Taulov school is situated in the small village of Taulov with 3000 inhabitants. It is in the commune of Fredericia which is situated by the sea in the southern part of Denmark (Jutland). Fredericia have 25000 inhabitants or so.
Taulov school has 650 students from 5-16 year old. (1. to 9. grade). In my school the students have to choose which line they want to attend to when they start in 7. grade (13 year old). They can choose between:
Innovation line
Science line
International line
My students are in the international line which means they have an English speaking teacher in math, science, biology and chemistry. It also means they will be a part of an international project.
We are in a Comenius project called "A healthy mind in a healthy body" together with 5 other European countries. It is going on its second year now and has been very successfull so far.
Now we are trying to create a new project with Poland, Spain, Holland, Portugal and we need more partners, so please read the summery of the project below and come and tell me if you are interested.
Best Regards
Niels
The project was created to promote economic education among students. We hope that thanks to it our students will know and understand better how important are for modern and future societies not only banking and finances but also marketing and advertising techniques. We want our students to cope with such detailed issues like: banking and finances ( credit cards, loans, credits, teenager`s accounts, Euro`s history, financial traps, household budgets ), advertisement and commercials ( different advertising techniques, making commercials, ways of affecting consumer`s subconsciousness ). We assume to invite to our schools the representatives of local banks, sales representatives or chain stores managers and integrate their knowledge and experience with our activities. As economic knowledge is an important element of a lifelong learning, we hope our project will enrich the students in certain sets of behaviour which further will allow them, as future consumers taking advantage of various financial services and customers operating on trade markets, to avoid risky actions. We want our students to focus on marketing techniques which create emotions and motivate people to purchase products offered on a free market. Teenagers are a target group for big companies and the addressee of thousand of commercials. Our aim is to teach the students to analyse critically the information about credits, repayments or insurance. We`ll help them to read contracts carefully. Thanks to our project students will know consumer`s rights protection procedures and the national organizations and institutions which are created to help the customers. Sensible consumers are aware what they eat so we will pay attention to what is written on the labels of food products, how careful we should be with Chinese products, what GMO and slow food are. We`ll pay attention to the necessity of physical activity and active participation in cultural events. We`ll try to show our students how to operate and select goods in the rich market of culture world ( books, music, films, games, performances ). A modern European teenager cannot exist out of the system of economy and finances. They shouldn`t be excluded from cultural life either. They are expected to undertake rational economic decisions and taking advantage of entertainment industry. Therefore we have planned our activities to introduce the students into complex world of multimedia pictures and messages and audio transfers. All undertaken efforts are supposed to convince young people that high financial and cultural awareness is an essential factor of complete social integration. We want our students to be future aware citizens who understand important processes occurring in modern societies ( social exclusion, women`s rights, unemployment and job market, the choice of further education levels). Therefore one of our project objectives is the importance of the participation in voluntary actions and organizations, creating responsible citizens ( working in City Youth Councils ) and encouraging Youth in Action projects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some activities: - conducting surveys - economic street games - creating household budgets - visits in banks – some activities and training done by bank managers - meetings with sales representatives - making short commercial videos - participating in City Youth Council sessions - participating in charity actions These are only suggestions.
ReplyDeleteHi Nils
ReplyDeleteHere Kersti from Estonia. I promised to write some ideas to join your soon coming project. Have you heard about the project Junior Achievement http://ja-yecoreprogrammes.org/index.php
The project It's my business is interesting. Students form groups and work out a product first on the paper later could be something real. And in the common meetings these will be introduced to the other partners. This is just one idea. What do you think?
Best wishes Kersti
